Journaling… A NICU Practice
I would describe myself as quite a mindful person.
I read self development books, am interested in metaphysics, practice yoga, occasionally meditate (not as much as I likely should) and now I’m leaning into learnings of sleep and nutrition for better living.
However, journaling was never anything I was interested in. I was well aware of the benefits and agreed with them in theory but it wasn’t until my world was turned upside down that I leaned into it and started a daily journal.
This was in part thanks to the Miracle Babies Foundation. They donated an exercise book along with other little gifts to the mums in the NICU. I used mine to journal.
It allowed me to download a hell of a lot of information, half of which was in medical lingo. This in turn cleared my head to a degree so I could focus on the miracle baby in front of me which was my son, Kai.
In between his cares and feeding routines, I detailed his journey every morning and at certain parts of the day.
From an ex-premie mum I can say that this seemingly small gift, of an exercise book, turned out to be one of the most helpful and meaningful additions to my NICU experience.
So, if you have ever thought of donating to a charity for premature babies or a lesser known charity to those more publicly seen. Please check out the wonderful work of The Miracle Babies Foundation 💜
